We understand that the emotional and physical impact of caring for a loved one can take its toll. Many people believe it is their responsibility and duty to do everything, leaving them feeling as though they shouldn’t ask for help, or will feel guilty if they let someone else help.
Carers UK stress how breaks are vital to a carer’s own wellbeing and quality of life, when a lot of their time is taken up with caring for a loved one. A break can be a holiday for a number of days, or it may involve taking back a day or two in the week, or a couple hours a day to take some time for yourself.
We aim to help overcome this barrier, by considering both the carer and client’s needs when we discuss options for support. Not only will we help by offering flexible care options such as our ‘top-up’ hours scheme, but we will introduce carers to other services in the community which can help support their needs.
