The Hidden Backbone of Social Care

When people think of social care, the focus often rests on the visible aspects – home care assistants visiting clients, health professionals delivering medical support, or social workers coordinating care packages. Yet, the seamless delivery of these essential services is often made possible by an equally vital group that works largely behind the scenes: our transport team.

At Kinect Services, we understand that transport is not merely a logistical function. It is a critical part of the care pathway, and our drivers play a central role in ensuring dignity, safety and consistency for the individuals we support. They are trusted professionals who help to maintain routine, reduce anxiety, and support independence – and they do so every day across three counties and beyond.

More Than a Journey

Our transport services are deeply embedded within the fabric of the local communities we serve. We provide reliable and compassionate transport for both school pupils and adults receiving social care, operating hundreds of routes across Essex, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire each day. These include regular journeys to and from schools, day centres, healthcare settings, and community services.

Importantly, our reach does not stop there. We are also proud to support boarding schools across the country, offering tailored transport solutions for students requiring travel to and from educational establishments. These services are particularly valuable to schools and families who need reliable and trusted support for young people, often with additional needs, who require reassurance and familiarity throughout their journey.

Skilled, Trained, and Ready to Respond

To deliver this level of service, we equip our drivers with extensive training that mirrors the standards provided to our Passenger Assistants. This includes:

  • Passenger Assistant Training or Disability Awareness Training, with a focus on behaviour support, safeguarding and effective communication strategies tailored to diverse needs and includes practical instruction on securing and transporting wheelchair users with dignity

  • Emergency First Aid, ensuring our team can respond swiftly and competently in the event of an incident

Our commitment to training ensures that, whether a driver is working alongside a passenger assistant or independently on a solo route, they have the skills and confidence to manage both the practical and emotional needs of those in their care.

Versatility When It’s Needed Most

No matter how robust a rota may be, there will always be times when staff are unavailable due to illness or well-earned annual leave. That’s where our Bridging Team plays a vital role. This highly flexible, experienced group of professionals are always prepared to step in and support the continuation of services at short notice.

Whether covering a school run in Hertfordshire, stepping into an adult care route in rural Cambridgeshire, or supporting a last-minute request from a boarding school in the Midlands, our Bridging Team is a cornerstone of our operational resilience. Their ability to adapt quickly and deliver with the same professionalism as permanent route teams is central to our reputation for reliability and consistency.

Recognising the Value of Transport

Each year, our transport teams collectively travel hundreds of thousands of miles, serving towns, villages and remote rural communities. Our average punctuality rate exceeds 98 percent, a testament to the professionalism and time management skills our drivers bring to every shift.

Yet beyond the statistics, the real impact lies in the personal feedback we receive. A parent sharing how their child looks forward to seeing the same familiar driver each day. A boarding school praising the patience and attentiveness shown during long-distance journeys. A social care team highlighting how reliable transport has improved a client’s attendance at vital day services. These are the real results of having a transport team that sees their work as part of a wider commitment to people’s wellbeing.
